The short version
Your photos are converted entirely in your own browser. They are never uploaded to our servers, and we never see, store, or access them.
How conversion works
When you convert a HEIC file, the decoding happens locally on your device using WebAssembly (a build of the libheif library). The original HEIC and the resulting JPG never leave your device. The conversion library is downloaded on your first conversion, so that first conversion needs an internet connection; after it has been cached, no photo data is ever sent to us.
Data we collect
We do not collect your photos. To understand aggregate usage we use Vercel Web Analytics, and Google Analytics 4 whenever a measurement ID is configured for the site — these record page views and simple behavioural events such as whether visitors start or finish a conversion and click download. These analytics report aggregate events only; they never include your photos, file names, or file contents. Analytics runs independently of the conversion itself, which happens entirely on your device. If we display ads in the future, those ads may use cookies as described by the advertising network. We will update this policy before enabling any advertising.
